The Majorca Mastiff is a medium, powerful molosser with a broad head, a short coat, and a compact, slightly rectangular body. The expression is serious, and the ears are rose or dropped.

A large Mediterranean catch-and-guard dog for a fenced property and experienced handling; short coat, a serious presence, not a first city dog.

The Majorca Mastiff, or Ca de Bou (Mallorquin Mastiff), is a catching and farm dog from Mallorca. It was used on cattle and as a property guardian. The UKC classes it as a Guardian Dog.

Temperament

This is a confident, territorial dog. It is typically devoted to its own household and reserved with strangers. It needs an experienced owner and clear rules.

Training

Socialize early and keep the rules consistent. Strength without training is a problem.

Care and grooming

Wipe the short coat weekly. Keep this heavy breed lean.

Shedding

Low to moderate.

Health

As with other molossers, hip dysplasia and eyelid problems can occur. Joint screening of breeding stock is wise.
